Yet another cover of the The Knife's "Heartbeats", this time by Scala & the Kolacny Brothers. Gorgeous. And an infectiously melodic tune from Beat Radio.

Scala & the Kolacny Brothers - "Heartbeats". Buy.
Beat Radio - "Treetops". Buy.

A Baker's Dozen : Volume 5

So far, it's a lazy, drizzly Saturday morning. Time to post my latest indie ear candy. Enjoy.

01 - The Wombats - "Lost In The Post". Seeing as the tunes I post become inevitably mellower, I'll at least crank this one from out of the gate. Three very indie looking Brit boys here writing more of that manic melodic chaos that I never tire of. This chorus is huge and beautiful. | Website | MySpace | Purchase |

02 - The Diggs - "Everyone's Starting Over" (Cassettes Won't Listen Remix). A worthy remix of a Baker's Dozen Volume 1 classic here bringing this gem yet another lease on life. | Website | MySpace | Purchase |

03 - Katamine - "Winchester Gun". Acoustic and haunting. Sounds like this guy may have had some rough days. | Website | MySpace |

04 - Joan As Policewoman - "The Ride". Here is the other Joan As Policewoman song that I love. Surely this one should have found it's way on to Grey's Anatomy by now. | Website | MySpace | Purchase |

05 - The Weepies - "Gotta Have You". Perfect name for this band. Kind of like how The Softies at least said what they were all about. This is a mellow indiegirl tune. Far from perfect, but that "no amount of..." segue into the chorus works. | Website | MySpace | Purchase |

06 - Ohm - "Spoon Me". Some Swedish weirdness. | Website | MySpace | Purchase |

07 - The Poems - "I'm A Believer". A Glasgow band that basically sounds exactly like Camera Oscura, which is at least to say that this song is unbelievably catchy. Recently signed to Minty Fresh stateside. | MySpace | Purchase |

08 - Fionn Regan - "Put A Penny In The Slot". My wife thinks I've gone all folksy lately because this song has been in constant rotation. I'm addicted to this chorus. | Website | MySpace | Purchase |

09 - Say Hi To Your Mom - "Yeah, I'm In Love With An Android".
A pleasant reminder of the mighty Steven Heller, this one is like Pedro The Lion's less-intense little brother. | Website | MySpace | Purchase |

10 - Arctic Monkeys - "Leave Before The Lights Come On".
Remember when you were at the church or high school dance and you thought that guy/girl was hot and then they turned the lights on? Yeah. | Website | MySpace | Purchase |

11 - The Changes - "When I Wake".
Imagine Crowded House with a few more BPM and a closet shoegazer guitar player. | Website | MySpace | Purchase |

12 - Hello Saferide - "The Quiz".
I think this tune has been out forever and well slavished over already, but this song is utterly perfect. Read the lyrics. | Website | MySpace | Purchase |

13 - Young Love - "Discotech" (Weird Science Remix). OK, if you think I've lost it here with this uber-disco track, then go their MySpace page and check out the original. This is likely the tune every teenage girl does her hair to on Friday nights, but it's still silly good. Reminds me of when I first heard the The Killers. | Website | MySpace |
