Absentee

Usually when I do these posts, it's completely obvious which songs I should thrust upon the world. It's never really that much of a problem; there are just those clear "hits". Well, not in this case. The more I listen to "Schmotime" by Absentee, the more I realize that this is closest that I'm going to get to the Magic Numbers this year. Yes, they are THAT GOOD. This entire CD is chock full of instant classics.

Imagine Leonard Cohen reincarnated as Calvin Johnson and dripping with a dampened version of Romeo Stodart's limitless enthusiasm and charm. This will be the soundtrack of my summer. Enjoy.

Phoenix

I've been addicted to Phoenix's "One Time Too Many" for 2 weeks now. That incessant rhythm feels glued to every brain cell I possess. I was tapping it out on the pews in Church on Sunday, tapping it out on the steering wheel this morning, tapping it out on my wife's shoulders last week. Droney, repetitive, and melancholic. These Frenchies have struck gold with this one. Enjoy.
